I have had this set for 45 years and its excellent.

I bought this set 1972 and have used it constantly ever since.It cost $310.00 back then and I added some 45's later.If you buy this set you can plan on leaving it to your grandkids because with just a little oil its exactly as I bought it.5 stars!!!!!!! Bob Hoffman's weights were the best available.

I ordered this on a Saturday, it shipped late Monday/early Tuesday and I got it Thursday. They sent shipping tracking links, and had UPS coordinate the delivery so I'd be there to sign for it and bring it inside. So the mechanics and logistics of delivery were excellent. The product itself: York weights... just. plain. awesome.

Pros

The plates are even, and balanced to better than 1/4 pound accuracy (I weighed them). The bar is has a good knurled grip. While I'm only moving 250 pounds, there has not been any bar flex that I or my spotter could see. This set is very bit as good as what I was going to an outside gym for, but it's in my basement! Plates all arrived uncracked and un chipped, with a good cast-iron dark finish. I am just thrilled with the set.

Cons

Two minor zingers: I live on a side-street, so had my first workout moving the weights about 90 yards to my garage, which was challenging, but it's free shipping. My second workout was getting the bar out of the bar box. The flange kept getting hung up on the box edges. Word to the wise: cut the box lengthwise and roll the bar out... it would have been much easier than what I did (I took an end, and kept widening the cut as each part of the box caught the flange.

Got this set a couple weeks ago. Product as advertised. Everything was packaged well and arrived in great condition. Initially some of the black paint on the plates came off on the hands but not a big deal. I also am not a fan of the spring collars that come with this set but I picked up a lock jaw set. Other than that, very happy with the set. I had some questions about shipping and FitnessGiant was great with their customer service. They got in touch with me quickly, answered all my questions, and made sure the shipping worked around my schedule. Will definitely be back for more gear in the future.
